AERODROME FACILITY UPGRADE

CIVIL AND STRUCTURAL WORKS FOR AERODROME FACILITY

The Miles Aerodrome project involved upgrades to the existing facility including widening and extension of the runway, taxiway and apron, and construction of new landside facilities including terminal and utilities buildings, sewer treatment plant, carpark, road access and landscaping.

Brandon & Associates was responsible for the supervision of the civil construction and monitored compliance with Development Approvals including physical inspections, reports and negotiation of civil specifications.

During the project, we were required to negotiate design and construction particulars with designers and contractors foreign to the area and not experienced with local soil/climate types.

Our knowledge and experience with local conditions, materials and processes was critical in project design and delivery and helped to overcome any challenges. Equipment cost and availability in the area impacted processes, but Brandon & Associates were able to come up with innovative ways to utilise available machinery including a pugmill, pavement trimmer, and a 56-tonne pavement roller to achieve required outcomes.
