REUBEN DOWNS TURNOUT

This project delivered the detailed design of a new channelised right-turn (CHR) and auxiliary left-turn (AUL) intersection on the Warrego Highway, providing safe and efficient access to the Reuben Downs facility between Wallumbilla and Yuleba. The development was undertaken to accommodate increased traffic demands associated with the site while maintaining the safety and operational performance of one of Queensland's key transport corridors. The project also included a Traffic Impact Assessment to evaluate access options and support the selection of the preferred intersection arrangement.

Brandon & Associates provided a comprehensive suite of engineering services, including engineering survey, geotechnical investigations, pavement and surfacing design, widening and overlay design, line marking and signage, and the preparation of Bills of Quantities and Transport and Main Roads (TMR) specification annexures. Extensive coordination with the Department of Transport and Main Roads ensured the design met all applicable highway and safety requirements, facilitating project approvals and delivery.

Through detailed traffic analysis and engineering design, an optimised intersection solution was developed to provide safe vehicle movements into and out of the facility while minimising impacts on highway operations. The completed design delivers improved access, enhanced road safety, and long-term functionality for both facility users and the travelling public, supporting ongoing industrial activity and economic development within the region.
