LIFEFLIGHT FACILITY
LIFEFLIGHT FACILITY
This project supported the development of the new LifeFlight Roma facility, a critical piece of regional aviation and emergency response infrastructure. Brandon & Associates was responsible for the civil and structural engineering design associated with the building pad earthworks, slab and footing systems for the hangar and building structure, and the external paved areas. The works were designed to accommodate the operational demands of a modern aeromedical facility while providing a durable and practical platform for long-term service delivery.
A unique feature of the construction process was the assembly of the hangar roof structure at ground level on the completed concrete floor slab, including the installation of roof sheeting prior to erection. The fully assembled roof was then craned into position in a single lift, delivering an impressive construction milestone and demonstrating innovative project delivery techniques.
The project involved close coordination between the design and construction teams to facilitate the delivery of specialised aviation infrastructure. The facility provided LifeFlight with a modern operational base, enhancing emergency response capability and supporting critical healthcare services across regional Queensland.
