WATER SUPPLY NETWORK ANALYSIS

NETWORK ANALYSIS OF WATER SUPPLY

Quilpie Shire Council commissioned Brandon & Associates to conduct a network analysis of the Shire’s water supply. Using WaterCAD, we were able to determine the adequacy of the existing infrastructure and advise of any augmentation requirements.

To complete the analysis, examination of existing pipe network was performed, with the information transferred into computer model. This comprised of assessment of existing connections, average day demands, peak day and per hour demands, as well as firefighting requirement for the existing network. For accuracy, Brandon & Associates determined actual pipe sizes so that the model reflected the existing situation. Establishing consistency between model outputs with current on-site flow and pressure readings in the reticulation network also contributed to accuracy.

Brandon & Associates examined findings and recommendations were made for amendments to the network. This allowed the elimination of superfluous connections and enabled adequate distribution of water to all sections of town.
