NDRRA CHINCHILLA EMERGENT WORKS

MULTIPLE ROAD RECONSTRUCTION WORKS

Following the flood events in January 2013 and subsequently in March 2013, Brandon & Associates accepted the role of Project Coordinator for Western Downs Regional Council on road works in and around Chinchilla. The roadworks were performed under the National Disaster Relief & Recovery Arrangements (NDRRA) emergent works declaration.

Following the first flood event, Brandon & Associates conducted an initial assessment to determine the scope of works for tender. Public consultation and liaison were key to the project so the community experienced minimal disruptions.

Due to the increased demand on contractors, materials and equipment during this time period due to flood recovery works, combined with the resources boom in the region, Brandon & Associates had to ensure quality of this project was maintained from start to end.

Brandon & Associates oversaw management of the projects during the works, including contract administration, sourcing materials and coordinating the gravel supply. Due to the unknown ground conditions, there was a large increase in project scope that affected fixed timeframes. Communication with the contractor and Council was key to overcoming obstacles and revising timeframes to suit the new scope.
