MURILLA COMMUNITY CENTRE
COMMUNITY FACILITIES
The Murilla Community Centre involved the conversion of the existing residence into childcare facility to accommodate a 22-child kindergarten.
For this project, Brandon & Associates took on the project management role and was involved in the initial town planning, building applications, contract management and liaison with DETA and Council. Main Roads was listed as part of the referral agency application and we also utilised the services of Johnson and Cuming Quantity Surveyors to meet DETA requirements.
One of the biggest challenges of the project was the project’s location on a registered noise and transport corridor. Although not ideal, we remained solution-focused and practical in our approach and were able to achieve final approval after making budget adjustments to bolster noise controls and negotiating with Main Roads to ensure the appropriate regulations were met.
Despite external challenges, we have been able to develop a practical and interesting space for indoor play areas, from what was formerly a cluttered and unusable residential building for this intended purpose.
