CIVIL AND STRUCTURAL DESIGN FOR SWITCHING STATION

Brandon & Associates undertook the civil and structural engineering design for works within the compound of the Columboola Switching Station constructed by iPower.

The scope of works included bulk earthworks, road design, kerb and channelling, stormwater collection and discharge, cable trenches and design of the control building. This scope of works entailed all civil and structural engineering design works and supervision.

To meet strict timeframes, Brandon & Associates designed precast cable trenching units that were formed offsite and delivered to site by a Toowoomba-based precast company. This allowed for quicker construction and efficient programming.

We successfully balanced the bulk earthworks and stormwater discharge that proved to pose its challenges on a sloping site. A collaborative approach with the electrical designers regarding integration of underground cabling and earthing networks with civil designs achieved a positive approach.
