Our team of experienced Directors and Associates are actively involved in the day-to-day operation of the company and continue to live, work, and give back to our local communities. Most of our current leadership team have grown up in the areas they work, thus demonstrating their steadfast dedication to the betterment of the region.

Ray Hicks

Executive Engineer

Born and bred in Chinchilla, Ray commenced with the firm in November 1975 as a Junior Engineer. Once rated as ‘one of the best young engineers in Queensland’, Ray has gone on to earn widespread respect for his practical knowledge of Local Government engineering, particularly in the area of design and construction of rural road systems. As Managing Director, Ray assumes ultimate responsibility for all facets of the company and his ability to build strong relationships with clients and his team has ensured the sustained growth of the business. Ray is passionate about his involvement in the industry and is currently a member of the Australian Institute of Engineers, Institute of Public Engineering Works Australia, is a registered Local Government Engineer, Registered Professional Engineer (Qld), and is a Chartered Professional Engineer.

Bryan Payne

Initially commencing in 1977, Bryan became Brandon & Associates first full-time employee in Roma in 1979. Bryan has a strong background in civil engineering including investigation and planning, Local Government administration, project management and the design and supervision of water supply and sewerage schemes, road works, street works and drainage. Bryan utilises his wide range of industry experience and personal approach as Director in Charge of Engineering services and Manager of our Roma Office. With additional qualifications including licensed Building Certifier, Local Government Tutor and Referee of the Queensland Building and Development Dispute Resolution Committee, Bryan has high-level negotiation and mediation skills and a keen eye for detail.

Phil Lattimore

Principal Civil Engineer
Director

As Manager of the Toowoomba office and head of the civil division, Phil is responsible for the management and coordination of the Toowoomba design office and is heavily involved in resources management, acting as Project Manager and Consulting Engineer on various civil projects. Phil has a strong background in Local Government operations, having previously worked as an engineer in Taroom and later as Engineer for Warroo, Bendemere and Bulloo Shire Councils. He is also experienced in in-depth public consultation having worked in the United Kingdom on the preliminary design for Southeast Multi Modal (SEMMS) project for Essex County Council. Phil is passionate about continuous development and also specialises in Quality Management System documentation and implementation. This passion also extends to his professional career where he is currently associated with engineering affiliations and organisations and regularly participates in seminars and conferences to ensure currency of practice.

Scott Pomerenke

A highly talented professional, Scott completed his Bachelor of Engineering with Honours and specialises in the provision of Local Government and professional engineering services. He maintains strong relationships with Councils and is regularly involved in the planning, design, project management, contract administration, construction and supervision of State Controlled and Local Government civil projects including roads, town streets, bridges, urban storm water, water, sewerage and residential and industrial developments.

Gary Cook

Born in Atherton and raised in Chinchilla, Gary provides engineering and project management consultancy services to Local Governments, State Departments and public & private clients in other areas of Southwest Queensland. Having worked for Main Roads in the Gympie and Cloncurry regions prior to joining the Company in 1984, Gary has utilised his valuable experience to develop relationships with a number of our key Local Government clients. He played a major role in supervision at MRD/QT road works and Shire road works in Murilla, Bulloo, Chinchilla, Wambo, Taroom and Bauhinia and has specific experience in personnel and project management, financial control, quality control, tenders/quotations and pavement material design and performance. Gary’s strong ability to build and maintain relationships has ensured the continued success of Brandon’s in Southwest Queensland.

Mark Pomerenke

Mark is well-versed in a diverse range of civil projects having worked with local government and private companies. He has previously worked on the planning, concept design, contract negotiation and project management for Local Government, Department of Main Roads, resource industry and privately owned/developed maintenance and construction works. Currently Mark is based in Miles. Mark utilises his high attention to detail, negotiation skills and ability to think laterally to come up with innovative engineering solutions for both short- and long-term planning. With a hand in asset management, quality assurance and environmental management, Mark ensures all aspects of the project are taken into consideration to ensure high-quality results are achieved.

Cameron Lattimore

Senior Structural Engineer

With a background in civil engineering, Cameron specialises in the detailed structural analysis and design of institutional buildings, development applications, project management, on-site inspections and supervisions and geotechnical engineering. Cameron has experience across all facets of engineering, from the conception and application stage through to client handover. As Manager of the firm’s structural design team, Cameron has comprehensive knowledge and practical understanding of compliance regulations / legislations. His ability to combine technical and industry knowledge while building strong rapport with clients and local authorities has been instrumental in the development of the business.

Dave Donohue

Dave combines his in-depth industry knowledge with a high-level of proficiency in auditing, research and investigation. His experience includes State Controlled, Local Government and privately developed road networks, urban stormwater, water supply, wastewater, residential and industrial developments, bulk grain handling, haul roads and open space facilities. Dave has a strong focus on developing relationships with clients, maintaining excellent communication throughout projects, ensuring quality of service delivery. His dedication to understanding key project requirements enables him to consistently provide recommendations for quality and productivity improvements.
