DRINKING WATER QUALITY MANAGEMENT PLAN, THARGOMINDAH

Brandon & Associates were responsible for the development and documentation of a Drinking Water Quality management plan for the Thargomindah water supply.  The purpose of the plan is to protect public health through the identification and minimisation of any public health-related risks associated with drinking water.  This report was prepared in accordance with guidelines issued by the regulator and as required under the Water Supply (Safety and Reliability) Act 2008.

Development of documentation included:

  • An overview of the water supply
  • Infrastructure details
  • Identification of hazards/hazardous events which could affect the quality of the water supply
  • Assessment of risks posed by the hazards/hazardous events
  • Management analysis of the risks

Many different aspects had to be taken into consideration and the location of existing water quality data helped to identify possible hazards and hazardous events.  As a local government and community project, justification of funding to the Risk Management Improvement Program was a necessity.

Brandon & Associates liaised openly with all stakeholders – Council and community – during each stage of the plan’s development, ensuring adequate information and management processes were in place.  As a result, service providers are now required to prepare and submit plans according to the new documentation and apply to the regulator for approval.
